This does not really have anything to do with my exeriment but it looked cool, so check out de Young Museum San Francisco has similar use of natural lighting to my design ans has also used a similar stair design but ona much bigger scale. Also while you are there check out the Alianz Arena.

The textures used in the detailed sketchup model

Inconsistent (Can be a type of stone or sandstone or tile)

Natural (Leaves or foliage)

Organic. (Rootsystems or can be the groth rings or grain of timber)

APPLIED TEXTURES

Here are the textures I have choosen to be added onto my Sketchup model.

This texture would be inconsistent. which is applied to the front facade of the strucuture.

In the outdoor exhibition space I applied the natural texture of leaves or vegetation to the ground.

This is the underground space where I applied the organic texture in a light brown colour.

Patricia Piccinini's 'The Nest'

I believe that this piece of art constructed by Patricia Piccinini was made/designed from materials such as aluminum for the main body of the motorcycle due to its light weight and flexibility for those really curvatious parts. Also Aluminium is great for painting over in high gloss enamel/paint. Also another material that could be used in this work is plastic. It is durable, can be painted and colour in the rainbow and is able to be molded into various shapes and sizes. The seat is made from a type of leather or weatherproof synthetic material. The smaller piece included in the work has less components to it although it would have been made in a similar fashion. Either from plastic or aluminium.

I believe that Piccinini used types of molds to bend and curve the plastic or aluminium into those unusual shapes.

I believe also that the chassis of a vesper or scooter would have been used as the basis or as an inspiration for the piece. This shown through the seat design certain contours and to and extent the wheel base.

Ricky Swallow's BMX sculpture

This piece looks as if Ricky has just gone out and purchased an old school BMX bike and painted it all white. Alhtough I do believe that this particualr piece of artwork was made using a type of mold to construct/scultpt all of the various different components of the BMX bike. What I mean is that I beleive that each part was indiviually molded in a rubber or plastic mold like sections such as the wheels and the main frame supporting majority of the riders weight form a type of clay and painted white. It could also be said that Swallow used big blocks of clay and carve out each of the components.

Although it could be said that possibly certian attributes such as the handels and the protector and seat of this sculpture can be associated with plastic. This is just a passing observation but it is most likely that Swallow has used a clay or clay like sustance in this scultputre. Although the rims on the wheels could be made of steel as it would be extrely hard to carve them out of clay and for them to keep their shape.

Which ever materials are used It looks as if the majority of this sculpture is solid and is successful at depicting all elements of a real life BMX bicycle.
