Florence Nightinglae
A pioneer in the nursing field, she established herself as a competent nursing administrator during the Crimean War, where her insistence on sanitary conditions cut the death rate considerably. She continued to advance the field in her later years, providing better health service and opportunities for women at the same time.
An interesting quotes I found is • No man, not even a doctor, ever gives any other definition of what a nurse should be than this -- 'devoted and obedient.' This definition would do just as well for a porter. It might even do for a horse. It would not do for a policeman. [1859]
(Florence Nightingale, from Eminent Women of the Age, 1868.(c) Jone Johnson Lewis,)

Stephen Hawking
The Columbia Encyclopedia, Sixth Edition
Stephen William Hawking 1942-, British theoretical physicist, b. Oxford, England, grad. University College, Oxford, 1962, Ph.D. Trinity Hall, Cambridge, 1966. In 1962 Hawking was diagnosed as having an incurable muscular disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Although the disease eventually confined him to a wheelchair and forced him to use a computer-generated voice synthesizer to communicate, he continued to teach and to lecture and began his research in cosmology . In 1971 Hawking provided mathematical support for the big-bang theory of the origin of the universe; he showed that if the general theory of relativity was correct the universe must have a singularity, or starting point, in space-time. http://www.encyclopedia.com/topic/Stephen_William_Hawking.aspx

An interesting quote -" Although there have been suggestions that spacetime may have discrete structure, I see no reason to abandon t continuim theories that have been so successfull. General Relativity is a beautiful theory that agrees with every observation that has been made." Chapter 1 of "The Nature of Space and Time"

Jane Goodall
Jane Goodall is the world's foremost authority on chimpanzees, having closely observed their behavior for the past quarter century in the jungles of the Gombe Game Reserve in Africa, living in the chimps' environment and gaining their confidence.
Dr. Goodall received her Ph.D. from Cambridge University in 1965. She has been the Scientific Director of the Gombe Stream Research Center since 1967. In 1984, Jane Goodall received the J. Paul Getty Wildlife Conservation Prize for "helping millions of people understand the importance of wildlife conservation to life on this planet." Her other awards and international recognitions fill pages. http://www.wic.org/bio/jgoodall.htm
"It is not easy to study emotions even when the subjects are human. As we try to come to grips with the emotions of beings progressively more different from ourselves the task, obviously, becomes increasingly difficult. If we ascribe human emotions to nonhuman animals we are accused of being anthropomorphic-a cardinal sin in ethology. But is it so terrible? If we test the effect of drugs on chimpanzees because they are biologically so similar to ourselves, if we accept that there are dramatic similarities in chimpanzee and human brain and nervous system, is it not logical to assume that there will be similarities also in at least the more basic feelings, emotions, moods of the two species?" (Jane Goodall 1990, p.16).
An interesting quote "Every individual matters. Every individual has a role to play. Every individual makes a difference. "

This is an animation mainly showing the interior of the above ground studio space.
ANIMATION #2
This animation is of the stair going from the above ground studio space to the exhibition space.
ANIMATION #3
This animation is predominantly the stair leading to the underground studio space and it also incudes some of the underground studio.

Youtube video
This does not really have anything to do with my exeriment but it looked cool, so check out de Young Museum San Francisco has similar use of natural lighting to my design ans has also used a similar stair design but ona much bigger scale. Also while you are there check out the Alianz Arena.
